Gmail goes offline - that's a good thing

The biggest drawback of Web-based software, including e-mail programs like Gmail, Yahoo Mail and Microsoft’s Hotmail, is that they don’t work when users are offline — say, while on an airplane or on the road without access to a Wi-Fi connection.

You can see the silhouette of the rigging which'll be pulling the plane (can't see it in this pick) from the water later today. My inability to get a good photo remains hampered by the iPhone - sorry.

The activity around the park was far less this morning as most of everyone (with a brain) is taking shelter from the teen temperatures (11) inside or in cars - the notable exception being the media which needs something to broadcast on the morning shows. One lucky reporter appeared to land a survivor. That is I assume he was a survivor as he was the only person around not wearing a season appropriate coat and the only other bit of outer wear he had was what I'm pretty sure was a red cross towel.

Also lumbering around this morning were a handful of NTSB folk. I'm not sure if that is a cool job or an amazingly morbid job.

Oh well, assumedly this'll be all done with by the time I head home later today.

Emi who is normally very happy with staying inside finally decided that actually seeing a large plane float by the window was just enough reason to go out and take a look around.

(The plane is now "clearly" visable on the right as it comes in view past the apartment building. The three white streeks are the fuselage, tail and left wing.)

I actually think the next picture is the Loch Ness Monster....

I took this last photo just a few minutes ago. They have most of the area blocked off. What you see here is what I think is the left wing poking up just on the other side of the wall....

The fire department, police and tones of other folks are in full force around here. It was crazy with them all rushing around when I came home earlier. Thank goodness they have plenty of big buses to go hang out in as it is frig'n cold out there. Being only out for 30 minutes and I felt my cheeks were going to break off.

My best guess is they'll be fiddling with this all night. It wouldn't surprise me if they waited for daylight to pull it from the water.

If the Nessy shows up again we'll be ready with more smeared images for you faithful readers.
